Cage? Rats? Mason's sneer only grew more. He didn't like that one bit. He didn't like getting bested, but being held captive too? And in some game? As much as he wanted to think it was a joke, but the tone of the voice in the sky told him otherwise. This was for real. But if this was a cage then certainly there was a way to escape. There always was. He just needed to figure out how. He had people to get back too.

So they were trapped? Gabriel frowned. He didn't really like the situation, but what was he going to do? He didn't have any knowledge of the supposed cage they were in. He didn't even know the first thing about this world that they were just dropped in. Maybe he could sneak some information out of the voice in the sky? It was unlikely but he could try. Gabe crossed his arms over his chest. It didn't see like the other people in town would have any information seeing how they ignored the voice in the sky and the kids on the ground. Maybe the girly person had some information? Or were they just another kid trapped here against their will? He was going to have to look into this a whole lot if he wanted any information.

He let out another contemplative sigh. His yellow eyes looking around again. Well this world didn't seem too bad. It was certainly better than what he had dealt with before. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.

"Since when did you like things as ancient as the Wizard of Oz?" Kenzie questioned her brother, glancing at him before jumping at the voice of the other person. It instantly threw her more behind her brother, her hands going almost immediately to her brothers shoulders so she could hide behind him. People, new people, were not her thing.

They both had good points. Panic wouldn't do any good, but it was a natural response to this type of scenario. Especially for her. She wanted to fidget, the last thing she'd need would be to fall asleep in the middle of a place like this... After her gaze left Callum, it followed her brothers over to the people around the fountain. Did they not notice a thing..? Something fishy was definitely going on here.

Once that loud, alluring voice returned, her gaze quickly turned upwards. One thing she had hated more then the nickname of ZeeZee was being called a child. She had earned her right to be called at the very least a 'young lady,' some of that thanks to her mother. Cage..? Oh no. She better not be stuck in an actual cage. Were they stuck in some kind of weird experiment? If so, why her and her brother? They had nothing of importance...

His note of a game struck her interest though. Video games were her jam. They had gotten both her and her brother in trouble countless times and yet she still returned to them. Kenzie's eyes, once rimmed with fear, brewed a bit of interest in them. But it shattered, fractured, into a million pieces with the next scrap of information that had been revealed before her. They were in some type of experiment, weren't they?

"Ma's going to have our whiskers for this one, Shep..." Her voice nervously cracked. While she wasn't a stranger to the realm of VR, this was something entirely different. Did her mother and father know where they were? So many questions were racing through her head, her eyes glazed over as she tried to process it all.

All of the thoughts swarming through her mind started to leave her a bit dizzy. Closing her eyes, Kenzie took a deep breath before looking back around at the place around her. Getting up to her feet, she crossed her arms for security. "What type of game imprisons its own players?"

A raven haired boy peered around at he rest of the teens, ignoring the voice that roared over head. It was too bad for them if they couldn't wake up themselves. In the center of the courtyard was a gorgeous fountain that trickled down; another teen that woke up sat against the fountain obviously bothered by the current events. Across from him were two blonde twins who were talking to a fairly calm boy. Around all of the unconscious were villagers of sorts going about their normal buisnsss completely unaware of the bodies beneath them.

Sawyer launched forward from and unknown force against his shoulder. An old lady passed by apologizing for the encounter. His eyes followed her stroll, too shocked by her calmness to chase after her. "H-hey wait!" His feet stumbled under him as he fumbled to present himself to the lady, "What is this place called?"

The petite boy only gave a slight shrug in response. Yellow-green eyes followed the direction that Shepard was staring in, towards the villagers and beyond that, to the castle lazing around out in the distance like an old man, and even further across the horizon. He blinked as the commanding Japanese person, with no location that anyone could actually pinpoint besides in the sea of blue above, going on about a game and being trapped within it. This wasn't exactly the hostage situation he expected himself to be in, but it was reminiscent of an old anime from the past. Assuming this man was more intellectual than the mastermind of that anime, they would have a more difficult time getting out.

Inescapable? There had to be a catch to this. A game with no goal was one that nobody would play or cooperate with. Callum closed his eyes, deep in thought, only to shake his head. Not enough information. Peering back over to the two twins, the girl trembling and almost as though she were as white as a sheet, he couldn't fathom how in the world she managed to ask that question when they were just told. "Well, this is the type of game that imprisons its players." he replied nonchalantly. "Might as well play along for now."

She felt sick. Absolutely sick. Between the stupidity of the people around her and the fact that she was stuck in this... this... game of all things and was part of some psycho's game made her wonder how someone like him managed to earn the trust of all the nations to create this project in the first place. And he of all people wanted to play this game and asked her to go for him because he couldn't attend the convention. Lilian clenched her teeth, fingers curling in and out.

... Gloves? She was sure she wasn't wearing anything on her hands before. These clothes matched the stylistic choice of the wandering strangers around her, but they weren't an outfit that she owned either. It really was a game. And they were stuck for who knows how long. For all she knew, nobody would ever find them and they'd die in this hellhole. "Nononono, I don't want to be here." Neither did anyone else around the area. But she really didn't want to be in this game at all. "Let me leave," her voice came out hushed, strained and unable to be anything louder than a whisper. She couldn't...

Taking a few steps back, Lilian bumped into Mason by accident, and she immediately jumped to widen the distance between them. Her knees buckled, like her legs had turned into jelly, and she just kept shaking her head in disbelief, eyes with a blank look as she tried to process everything. It felt too real. It felt too real.

"Please let me leave."

Shepard's lips pressed together eyes focusing on the large castle in the far distance. VR, like the game that was coming out soon--and the beta testers that had been lined up in the video game store to test out the game. He and Mackenzie had not made it in time to try it out, but it hadn't mattered to them that much. But now, Shepard reasoned that if they had stayed, maybe they wouldn't have been kidnapped. His sister's voice broke through his thoughts.

Mom was going to be pissed. Although--if it was inescapable like the man above claimed, she wouldn't have any children to be pissed at. They were gone. Shepard didn't want to think about how heartbroken their parents would be. Jaw clenching, he faced the other teenager--not quite able to decipher which gender Callum was. "There has to be a way out." Shepard decided, lifting his head up high.

The entire idea that his body was in a lab deep underground, and the likeliness of them over being found was slim to none. Yet, if others outside the VR were looking for them, Shepard knew they had to meet them halfway. They had to beat the game.

The lady stopped as Sawyer alerted her. She turned with a smile, though a confused one at that. She stared at him for a little while, and clutched her basket. "You're in Roslare, of course," she said. "You must be from far away." And she walked on without another word.

The voice paused, maybe to take pleasure in the reactions. It seemed to inhale, like a botanist smelling the flower of spring, their beautiful creation. As soon as Shepard spoke, however. "You're correct, Mister Herman," he boomed once more. "There is a way out. But it is a long journey away. You are currently on the first Level of a five Level game. If you ascend all of them, you win, and we will let you return home."

Before any relief could be had, he snapped, shaking the cobblestone ground with a thunderous--
"But!" He paused to breathe again, a joyful wheeze of a breath. "There are dangers out there, and you may die, as in any game. We have been kind and given you three lives. But when you run out of all three...

The voice broke into a long, deep laughter. The prismatic sky seemed to shimmer and rumble with each long guffaw. The clouds shook in their projection.

"Your bodies are equipped with thousands of small neural taps. It's millions of dollars worth of equipment for each of you. This was a very, ṿ̛͚e͕͕r̙̣y̥̺̱͖ expensive project." The man grit his teeth, almost in anger. He, however, paused, and his voice returned with a relaxed murmur. "You can feel anything that comes across in the game. Pleasure. Heat. Cold. P̶̫̟̲̱̯a̧͙͇̞͍͎i̢̠ṋ̹̮̺̩̲͡." Well, relaxed for a few moments.

"It's a very expensive, but it can be...deathly...effective."

Mason was broken out of his thoughts when another girl managed to trip over him. He opened his mouth to shout at her, and to tell her to watch where she was going but it seemed she was too zoned out in panic to pay attention to anything he said. He closed his mouth and just remained in his spot. "Sounds like asking to be let out won't work Princess." He said his voice some what cold.

His pale green eyes turned to the sky again when the voice started to speak up about how they could get out of the game. Three lives? If they ran out game over... but it was just more than a game over. The voice's mention of deathly effectiveness only confirmed his suspicions. "We either get out or we die trying correct weird voice in the sky?" Or they stayed here for the rest of their lives.

Damian huffed. So he would have to fight his way out of this, huh? Easy. He was ready for a challenge. Staring up at the sky, he looked for the voice. "So how do we advance levels?" he asked it, crossing his arms. If he knew that information he could be on his way and make it up to the Second Level before anyone else. While he waited for the response, he continued to look around at his "competition." There were a few that looked like a real problem, but possibly he could befriend them and they could make an unstoppable force. He looked almost directly at the boy who asked if it was getting out or die trying. He seemed like someone who could be a very helpful ally. Damian made his way over to the boy, carefully avoiding everyone else. "That's exactly what it's going to be, and you know it," he told him, arms still crossed. "The name's Damian."

Barry's breathing got heavy. They were trapped here? With only one way out? And they could die in here? Oh no. No way this was happening. This was all a bad dream, right? Looking around, he noticed some people were having similar reactions, while others remained calm and cool. Barry wondered how anyone could keep a level head during all of this. The twenty-seven year old was barely holding it together as is, and here some people were asking how to advance through the game. All Barry wanted to do was to go home to his family. Why did he have to be sucked into this game, especially when he wasn't even interested in it in the first place?

PostSubject: Re: Wake Up「Sitewide Grand-Opening topic」   Wake Up「Sitewide Grand-Opening topic」 - Page 2 Icon_minitimeSat Apr 15, 2017 11:29 pm

A way out, huh...? In response to the blonde teen beside him, the sky boomed once again, detailing the necessary requirements in order to escape the game. Clearing the levels, three lives, and they could go home if they made it out of all five floors in-tact. They were most certainly going to die if they lost all of their lives. Taking care to process all of the information carefully, storing it into an archive that could be brought up with ease in the future if need be, he began to piece everything together. Advancing between levels most likely involved a trial of some sort; whether it be a boss battle or a puzzle or both, that was the main question. More information was required. The man in the sky was unlikely to tell them everything and be as informative as a manual or tutorial.

Callum eyed the twins for a few moments. The boy seemed more perky than his sister, who seemed anything less of calm. It would be best to move away before it became irritable. Dealing with emotions of that sort was not much of his specialty, so he instead made his way towards the outer circle of the group. He would leave as soon as it seemed that the person above was finished. In passing, he heard a lady tell someone that the place they were at was Roslare.

She snapped out of her daze almost immediately, eyes narrowing into a glare. "Excuse me? I know that," Lilian spat back, looking at the black-haired boy straight in the eye. "And don't call me princess." That nickname was stupid and could only be associated with bad things. Just because she lived a certain way didn't mean that kind of dumb label should be used. That was it. This game. This stupid, stupid game. She was going to get out of it one way or another, and it was not going to be the last thing she'd do. Being the first to get out was all she cared about. Her survival was her priority. Who cared about the rest of them?

I'm scared. Nope, that kind of thinking was going to get her killed. It was nothing to be scared about. Absolutely nothing to be scared about.

A chill ran down her spine when she heard what the Japanese man said, almost shivering, but she shook it off. "You can die trying then. I'm getting out of this cage." When Damian joined them, she rolled her eyes. These two boys looked too similar. She wasn't going to be able to tell them apart. It would be proper to introduce herself, though. "I'm Lilian Vivaldi." Out of habit, she begrudgingly added, "Pleasure to meet you."

So many angry retorts. The man let everyone air their grievances before laughing a final time. Despite a multitude of questions, he chose to ignore them. "Good luck, my lab rats." he said. "Make sure to check your inventories. I'm sure you'll be able to find it out."

Rory settled on the side of the fountain, her head in her hands, thinking through the last night. That bastard, that rat fucking bastard. He was visiting to see how they were doing. What a load of horse shit. Did he do it for drinking money? Did he do it because he resented her father? She knew he had a job with some gaming company, and that's why he entered their lives again.

He was a 'changed man.' He even showed her around the local facility. He was so nice then. She was going to puke.

The girl looked back up to the clouds, at the voice's final message. Her inventory. She remembered her tours through the company headquarters, being allowed to sit in on a meeting for what she thought was a harmless RPG. It was an hour of rough doodling and arguments on how to get an interface just right. Her temples pulsed trying to remember what they were discussing in detail. No matter how much she rubbed them, it seemed to have no effect.

But it dawned on her.

It took only a few seconds after the voice in the sky seemingly left for her to swipe two fingers across the air in front of her, and for a hologram UI to appear before her. The girl jumped a bit at its materialization but said nothing, her lips firm. She had to get out of it. She had to convince her grandpa to let her leave.

But how could she communicate with him?

The girl began swiping her fingers along the glasslike interface. She tapped on a button that said 'Inventory.' Among her items were the clothes she was wearing, and an icon with the red descriptor: WEAPON. Beside it: Longbow.

She'd never shot a bow in her life.

Wolfgang shook his head. It made no sense. He'd never even been in the most basic of virtual reality. He could never afford it, and the $100 Oculus Rifts and Vives that flooded Goodwill were too much of a social stigma to pick up anymore. It just didn't make any sense. He didn't remember technology ever getting this advanced.

He wanted to be back home, in his room, with his guitar or keyboard and an open window. A window projecting normal house, modern houses. He stopped himself as he almost sent his fist into the perimeter of the fountain.
